New Family Tree Up

As mentioned in another message, the web site hasn’t changed much over the past few years. The one thing that did change is that the family tree I had compiled (and updated occasionally) was taken down, to the dismay of many. While the feedback I got on it was almost entirely positive—and led to several family members discovering and rediscovering one another—I found myself occasionally dealing with people who were irate that personal information about them was “out on the web”. When they contacted me, I’d remove whatever information they were concerned about (often things like birthdates, but occasionally the existence of entire individuals). Eventually, I heard from one @!$# cousin on Susan’s side of the family who jumped to immediately threatening me with a lawsuit if I did not remove references to him and his family—and immediately ensure that Google’s cache of the pages was removed as well. At that point, it stopped being worthwhile.

But I’ve regretted not being able to share the information with family members who were interested in genealogy. Recently, I came across a new web genealogy pagckage that allows me to require people to register for an account before getting access. So the family tree is now back on-line! (Without that person’s information, of course. I don’t need the hassle.) Feel free to register for an account—just let me know who you are. But please, please, please note that some of the information is flagged as being PRIVATE or CONFIDENTIAL. This information, especially, should not wind up generally available on the web, as people have specifically requested that it not.

In addition to the information, I also have pictures, census images, ships manifests, ketubahs, and other documents that I’ll be adding as soon as I figure out how.
